Jakrem Hot Springs

Jakrem is a small health resort in the West Khasi Hills known for its natural sulphur hot springs, which are believed to have therapeutic properties. The warm mineral-rich water attracts visitors seeking relief from skin ailments, joint problems, and stress — a natural spa in the middle of Meghalaya's forests.

The springs are set along a scenic river valley with forests on all sides. Bathing facilities are available, and the experience of soaking in warm sulphurous water surrounded by cool mountain air is deeply relaxing. The contrast between the warm springs and the cool Meghalaya breeze is particularly refreshing.

Jakrem is approximately 64 km from Shillong and is often combined with visits to Mawphlang Sacred Forest — a pristine ancient forest grove maintained by the local Khasi community for centuries as a sacred site.
